Benchmarking <scp>mesa</scp> isochrones against the Hyades single star sequence

چکیده

Based on GAIA EDR3, we revisit and update our sample of bonafide single stars in the Hyades open cluster. The small observational uncertainties parallax photometry EDR3 result a tightly defined stellar sequence, which is ideal for testing calibration theoretical evolutionary tracks isochrones. We benchmark solar-scaled MESA models against star sequence. find that non-rotating [Fe/H] = +0.25 provide good fit with masses above 0.85, very low mass below 0.25 M$_\odot$. For between 0.85 M$_\odot$ systematically under predict observed luminosity. One potential limitation partially convective more massive than 0.35 prescription (superadiabatic) convection mixing-length theory parameter $\alpha_{\rm ML}$ tuned to match Solar model. Below M$_\odot$, increased scatter sequence might be manifestation kissing instability, driven by variations $^3$He nuclear energy production rate due instabilities at core envelope boundary. Hyades-like population, application subsolar could significant underestimate age, or an overestimate metallicity. suggest future grids complemented Hyades-scaled range

Pre-main-sequence isochrones – I. The Pleiades benchmark

We present a critical assessment of commonly used pre-main-sequence isochrones by comparing their predictions to a set of well-calibrated colour–magnitude diagrams of the Pleiades in the wavelength range 0.4–2.5μm. Our analysis shows that for temperatures less than 4000 K, the models systematically overestimate the flux by a factor of 2 at 0.5μm, though this decreases with wavelength, becoming ...

The exoplanet - host star iota Horologii : an evaporated member of the primordial Hyades cluster

Aims. We show that the exoplanet-host star iota Horologii, alias HD17051, which belongs to the so-called Hyades stream, was formed within the primordial Hyades stellar cluster and has evaporated towards its present location, 40 pc away. Methods. This result has been obtained unambiguously by studying the acoustic oscillations of this star, using the HARPS spectrometer in La Silla Observatory (E...

New Photometry of the Hyades

71 Tauri (= BS 1394 = vB 141 = V777 Tau) is a rapidly rotating, F0 IV–V member of the Hyades cluster. It is the second brightest X-ray source in the cluster, after V471 Tauri, and an intensely bright coronal EUV source (Stern et al. 1995). It is a lunar occultation binary, but the secondary star (estimated by Peterson et al. 1981 to be a G4 V star in possibly a 53 day orbit) has never been seen...

L dwarfs in the Hyades

We present the results of a proper motion survey of the Hyades to search for brown dwarfs, based on UKIDSS and 2MASS data. This survey covers ∼ 275 deg to a depth of K ∼ 15 mag, equivalent to a mass of ∼ 0.05 M⊙ assuming a cluster age of 625 Myr. The discovery of 12 L dwarf Hyades members is reported. These members are also brown dwarfs, with masses between 0.05 < M < 0.075 M⊙. A high proportio...

Searching for Planets in the Hyades . I .

We describe a high-precision radial velocity search for jovian-mass companions to main sequence stars in the Hyades star cluster. The Hyades provides an extremely well controlled sample of stars of the same age, the same metallicity, and a common birth and early dynamical environment. This sample allows us to explore the dependence of the process of planet formation on only a single independent...
